Glad we could help you feel more connected to what's happening here. Afghanistan is a fascinating country and what your son is doing in Marjha is important. I only wish we could have made it out there to talk with them.

Learning so much!
I am so thankful for you fellas! My son is in Marjah with the 3/6. Watching these videos and reading the blog have taught me so much about Afghanistan, it's people, and the wonderful, selfless soldiers who put their lives on the line for freedom. Thank you and bless you both and your families!

I wish we could. I did have the chance to speak to a Marine on Day 8 but with only 10 days to go and two RC's left there's no way we'll be going back south. I'm sure ISAF will be pushing the rebuild and let's hope some big media catches on.

Afghans are known as "poetic warriors". They will often tell stories through analogies rather than using direct speak. This can be frustrating at times but if you embrace it, it can be beautiful to hear! smilies/smiley.gif

Day 18--I was excited to see what you had for us today, and I wasn't disappointed, the scenery was beautiful, and the gentlemen that you spoke with, both the German and the Afghan--to hear what they had to say was very uplifting. Thanks!

Would be great to see you visit some Marine units before you leave Afghanistan. Now that people are returning to Marjah, it would be great to hear how everything is progressing there and see the reconstruction efforts that the Marines are engaged in there. I bet you could get down there now that the mainstream media has changed their focus.

I LOVE the message of giving back from both the German Police and the ANP man you spoke with. Very positive change indeed.

The best line in the interview by far "my sons are like flowers I can give to society."
